Just for fun it was suggested at our last meeting that we have a little party to celebrate the signing of a contract with New Jersey Network. New Jersey Network has commenced filming a documentary on the Delaware Bayshore. The film will focus on the people, the resources, agriculture and architecture of the Bayshore.
It was further suggested that we view a different film by the same producer, Louis Presti. So we shall be viewing:
BACK FROM THE BRINK-
“Survival of Species, A Matter of Habitat” is a New Jersey Network documentary of the successful recovery of the bald eagle, osprey, and peregrine falcon. All three species have returned, but the story doesn’t end there. This half hour film examines how the fieldwork of biologists and the support of communities and corporations combine to preserve healthy habitats in New Jersey. Some members have not yet seen the broadcast of this film, and asked to see at the next meeting.
We plan to break out the popcorn, a few sodas, some dip and goodies. Come and join in the fun.
Ospreys, ospreys, everywhere!
At least 13 of our platforms have busy families on them. And at least six other structures are occupied, everything from telephone poles, to sand wash towers, to you guessed it – trees.
Wood ducks
Trustee and member Bob Johnson gives a great report on his wood duck boxes. He even had the fantastic experience of seeing the young float to the ground.
Citizens United and New Jersey Network do film on the Delaware Bayshore
From our opening statements you are now aware of a movie contract between New Jersey Network and Citizens United. This project is very exciting. Two films will be produced 1) a 30 minute NJN broadcast documentary 2) a 10 minute film for schools and visitor centers. The National Park Service and Citizens United have an agreement that the Coastal Heritage Trail Staff will serve as technical advisory on the film. The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection / National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration has selected Citizens United to receive a reimbursement grant of $10,000, the Park Service, PSE&G, Citizens United and New Jersey Network will provide the balance of the funding. This film is intended to heighten awareness of the special resources of the Delaware Bayshore and to increase advocacy for furthering protection of these resources.
