April 89 - Founder of CU receives Citation from President Bush a Volunteer Action Award

Sept. 88 - Two Individual officers of CU received NJ Audubon Society's 43rd annual award for the outstanding conservationist of the year, CU received one of four awards given to the outstanding conservation groups selected for that year

1987- With the help of local and federal officials, CU was instrumental in having Wild and Scenic Study Bill passed in the US Congress which instituted a US Department of the Interior, National Park Service study of the Maurice River Watershed

1986-87- Successfully prevented the placement of a hazardous waste impoundment facility on the basis of environmental sensitivity in conjunction with the Cumberland Co. Ad Hoc Committee opposed to the placement of a HWF in Maurice River Twp.

1987- Assisted NJ Conservation Foundation in creating a land management plan for preservation of the Manumuskin River Corridor (funded by NJ DEP)

1987- Adopted the Maurice River Watershed through the NJ Division of Water Resources, Water Watch Program, through this program CU provides many educational materials to the public

1986-87- Successfully prevented the placement of a hazardous waste impoundment facility on the basis of environmental sensitivity in conjunction with the Cumberland Co. Ad Hoc Committee opposed to the placement of a HWF in Maurice River Twp.

1986-87- Suggested and supported municipal passage of tree harvesting ordinances

1986- Gave testimony to the NJ Senate on the ecology of Union Lake Wildlife Management Area, the need for moneys to replace the dam, and clean up damage by a chemical company

1986-to present- Opposed sludge materials being dumped too close to river and wetland corridors

1982- Successfully prevented a proposal for a regional landfill in the Menantico and Manumuskin river corridors

1982- present - Funded, in part or entirety numerous studies of flora and fauna in the Maurice River Watershed

1986-87- Successfully prevented the placement of a hazardous waste impoundment facility on the basis of environmental sensitivity in conjunction with the Cumberland Co. Ad Hoc Committee opposed to the placement of a HWF in Maurice River Twp.

1984- present- Provided input into the Millville waterfront redevelopment project
